Coach Young is entering his 7th season as the head girls basketball coach at Wheeling Park High School with an overall record of 101-44. He graduated from Wheeling Central High School in 1997 where he was a member of the 1996 state championship team. After high school, Coach Young attended Fairmont State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in social studies. In 2009, Coach Young attained his master’s degree in communications from West Virginia University and became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2013.

Coach Young started his teaching and coaching career at Wheeling Middle School where he coached the boys basketball team from 2006-2008. In 2008, Young came to Wheeling Park High School where he currently teaches U.S. History, Economics, and Geography. Young was an assistant coach for the girls basketball team from 2008-2012. In that time, Wheeling Park won 2 OVAC championships and made 3 consecutive trips to Charleston to compete in the girl’s state tournament. Under Coach Young, Wheeling Park won the 2017 OVAC title and has made 3 consecutive trips to the West Virginia AAA state tournament. Coach Young resides in Wheeling with his wife, Jaime, and two children, Leah and Maggie.
